FAQ
Rebate questions
Straight answers to the questions homeowners ask us most. If yours is not here, give us a call.
Do you apply for the rebate for me?
Rebates are paid to the property owner, so the application is in your name. We prepare the invoice, photos and permit documents each program asks for and walk you through submitting them.
Is the rebate taken off your invoice?
No. You pay the invoice, then the municipality pays the subsidy to you after it approves your application. Your estimate shows the expected rebate and your cost after it, so you can plan.
Can I combine more than one program?
Each program covers homes in its own municipality. In Burlington, the City also covers the building permit fee for sanitary line repair or replacement that includes a backwater valve, alongside the Halton Region subsidy.
How current are these amounts?
Every amount on this page comes from the official program page and was last checked on September 25, 2026. Programs can change, so we confirm the current rules when we prepare your estimate.
Do rebates cover the full cost?
Some Halton disconnection work is covered at 100% up to set limits. Most other items are covered at 50% to 80%, up to a cap. The City of Toronto estimated its subsidy now covers about 53% of a typical invoice.
