How much of my flood protection can rebates cover?
In Toronto, the City pays 80% of eligible invoices up to $6,650 per property. In Halton, some disconnection work is covered at 100% up to set limits. Peel Region pays 60% of a backwater valve up to $1,500. Your estimate shows the exact amount.
Do I need both a backwater valve and a sump pump?
Many homes do. A backwater valve stops sewer water, and a sump pump handles groundwater from the weeping tile. If your weeping tile drains into the sewer, you may need both for the valve to work properly.
How long does a backwater valve installation take?
It depends on how deep the drain sits, the flooring and whether other work is needed first. Your estimate includes a schedule, with time for the permit and inspection.
Will flood protection lower my insurance premium?
Some insurers offer better terms for homes with a backwater valve and sump pump. Ask your insurer what applies to your policy.
