Start with the cause
Water gets into basements in several ways. Grading that slopes toward the house, downspouts that dump water at the foundation, failed weeping tile, leaking window wells and foundation cracks are the most common. We check each of these before we recommend a solution, because sometimes a smaller fix is all you need.
Exterior waterproofing
For walls that are letting in water, exterior waterproofing is the most complete fix. We excavate along the foundation, clean the wall, repair cracks and apply a waterproofing coating and a dimpled drainage membrane. New weeping tile on clear stone carries water to a sump pit or approved outlet, and we backfill and grade the soil to shed water away from the house.

The membrane on its own is not usually subsidized, but the drainage work around it often is. In Halton Region, weeping tile disconnection combined with a sump pump qualifies for 100% of eligible costs up to $6,500.
