How a backwater valve protects your home
A mainline backwater valve is installed in the main sewer line under your basement floor. During normal use, it stays open and waste flows out as usual. When sewage tries to flow back into the house, a flap closes and blocks it. An access cover lets you check and clean the valve over time.
Rebates that make it cost-effective
Toronto, Peel Region and Halton Region all offer subsidies for backwater valves. In Toronto, the current program pays 80% of eligible costs up to $1,600 per valve, for up to two valves. Peel Region pays 60% up to $1,500 including tax, and Halton Region pays 50% up to $1,600. We include your expected rebate and your cost after the rebate in your written estimate.
Doing it right the first time
Rebates depend on the right paperwork. You need an itemized invoice, a permit and a passed inspection, and some programs also require downspouts to be disconnected. We handle the permit, book the inspection and prepare the documents, so your application is complete when you submit it.
